Orthodontics: How to Have a Good Easter With Your Aligners

Posted .

Our orthodontist, Dr. Traci Saito, wants you to have a fun and successful Easter holiday this year filled with entertaining Easter egg hunts, delicious treats and wonderful family time. In order to have the best Easter possible, you need to keep your orthodontic aligners in mind. That way you don’t run into any problems or go off the track that leads to your perfect smile. So, to help you have a good Easter with your aligners, our orthodontist encourages you to do the following things:

-Take your aligner out before eating: This is recommended because if you leave the aligner in your mouth, chewing foods and gum can damage the appliance and affect the ability it has to align your smile. So, make sure to take your aligner out of your mouth before you eat.

-Clean your smile regularly: Brushing and flossing your teeth after you eat or drink something can help you avoid dental issues. This is because it can remove the food particles and bacteria from your smile before you put the aligner back over the teeth. If these substances get trapped under the aligner, then they can wear down and harm the tooth enamel.

-Wash your aligner: Rinse your aligner each time you take it out and follow the cleaning instructions to clean the aligner twice a day. Cleaning the aligner can prevent plaque buildup and can help you prevent dental problems.
