Chlorhexidine Rinse
Chlorhexidine rinse is an antibacterial rinse that may be prescribed by Dr. Brown to decrease the bacteria that can contribute to gingivitis and enamel decalcification. Use Chlorhexidine rinse only as directed for 2 weeks. Do not swallow. When using this antibacterial rinse while using your brush on fluoride you should follow this routine:
- Morning: brush, rinse with water, rinse with chlorihexidine.
- Bed time: brush, floss, chlorhexidine rinse, brush on fluoride gel.
Chlorhexidine rinse may stain the teeth or increase calculus and a thorough cleaning by your general dentist may be required at the end of your 2 week regime. Taste perception may also be temporarily affected during use.
